Dancing Jellyfish was inspired by Ernst Haeckel’s documentation of thousands of new species of sea life during his time on the HMS Challenger expedition, an expedition to map the sea’s and their species. Haeckel undertook many of his most renowned studies of sea life particularly of jellyfish during this period, helping to revolutionise biological science at the time.
